Some folks have written to me to suggest that the site might be a bit too complicated.
I appreciate their comments, and I love them for taking the time to write – but they seem to be missing the point.
The whole idea of this site is to encourage the student of chess to FACE the complexities of chess - head on.
CHESS is complicated. If it weren’t then obviously, this site could not be. Anyone serious about learning real chess has to be willing to do the COMPLICATED work – not just the simple dabbling that will satisfy the lazy student.
Chess is a serious study about a serious game – and this always was intended to be a serious site. That does not mean that chess can’t be fun – but it does mean that you’ve got to approach the process as if it were a serious course of study – which it is.
So, if you are one of those people who feel the site is too involved – please consider that you need to be equally involved to get anything out of it.
To play on the weekends just for fun – you don’t need to hone your talents. If you are a beginner – there are other areas of the site that might interest you. But training is for the serious. If that’s you – then stop complaining and dig in.
You’ve got work to do.
