Phase 4 – Building Your Tool Kit

Welcome to the final installation of our article on improving your chess play – by improving YOU. We have come a long way. Our faults were uncovered by a very specific process that identified for us the areas that we need to strengthen to become a better chess player.

Note that the process that we followed in the previous three articles has led us to a repair process that is chess player specific. That is; if we wished to find a solution for coping with a lost love we should have followed a somewhat similar – but ultimately different – process.

Our work has paid off though – for we are now at a point where we are ready to choose the tools that we will deploy to address our specific concerns.

Your toolbox for repairing yourself will not contain a glue gun, a tape measure or a screwdriver, but its contents are equally vital. The tools required to close your task list are personality improvement products.

These products have survived a great deal of scientific investigation so – even if we choose to be skeptical – they definitely DO work.

Not that skepticism is a valid response to these methods, but none of these suggestions are mysterious or mystical. You won’t need to become a sorcerer to apply these tools. In fact, making use of these tools is quite easy, but let us start by learning what is available for your use.

Choosing a tool

An elaborate profile of the pros and cons for every personal development tool we could offer is waaayyy beyond the scope of this article. If you want to know more about personal improvement products, explore the website at www.chessmemoryaids.com. Of course, there are plenty of other fine personal development websites out there as well. However, if we can’t detail every product – we can at least draw some basic guidelines for you to follow depending on the general area in which your problem lies…

Emotional Issues: (Self Esteem , Stress / Anxiety / Panic, Self Confidence)
Learn to re-channel your emotional energies. Choose a good hypnosis program (pre-recorded) to tackle emotional balance.

The term “Pre-recorded” in this context, means that you should purchase a pre-recorded title designed to manage this problem as opposed to building a custom program of your own from one of the many customizeable programs out there. The customizable programs have their uses – as we shall soon see – but for this purpose a pre-recorded title is of the stronger benefit.

ALSO – choose a good subliminal program (pre-recorded) to build a more confident you into your sub-concious mind. Again, pre-recorded titles work best in this area.

Empowerment Issues: (Lack of control over game)
Empowerment is an insidious enemy. It manifests at the chessboard in a player who understands the game – but can never achieve control of it. In general, this is mostly a symptom of not being in control of YOU. To affect repairs, you’ll need to program your sub-conscious to believe that the empowerment issue within you does not exist; that you are an empowered player and that you seek every opportunity to assume control of a chess game.

Whenever we hear the term “subconscious” we immediately think of a subliminal program. There are plenty of pre-recorded programs out there that will help. Several great pre-recorded titles on self-empowerment will be available for you selection. Motivational Issues: (Lack of control over YOU)
Some people want to become a good chess player – but don’t want to do the work. A pre-recorded subliminal program might be all you need, but I really think that a customized subliminal package is of powerful use here too. The pre-recorded package will handle the problem of laziness in general - from a professional point of view – and the customized package will enable you to build a program that will increase your motivation and enable you to become more excited about playing more chess – in particular.

Positive Thinking Issues: (Believing you CAN win)
Positive thinking is a slightly different concept than self esteem (see topic below).

Positive thinking has to do with building a more positive view of the world – as opposed to improving one’s outlook on his, or her own self worth. It’s about the background thoughts – about the “noise” that goes on in your head.

Is this noise reflective of thoughts that strengthen or weaken you? If the latter, then you’ll need some help. Subliminal exercise is a very good place to start. Again choose a few good pre-recorded titles to assist you here. The people who put these recordings together know much more about designing an effective subliminal training program than you do. Utilize their expertise!

Also look into some mind boosting programs that are designed to make you a more powerful thinker. There are many, many such programs available, and these not only will boot your brain power – but will generally improve positive thinking as a side benefit.

Self Esteem Issues: (Stress / Anxiety / Panic, Self Confidence, Self Talk)
Self esteem is basically unjustifiable negative feelings about one’s own self worth. The best fix is to tell yourself that you ARE ok – AND for you to believe it.

The path to this state of mind takes us again through the subliminal message. Finding a good pre-recorded program to address your specific needs will be difficult. If you can find one – buy it – but either way you’ll still need a good customizable package to tailor your program to your needs. Read the directions for using such tools CAREFULLY and then build yourself the tools you need to boost your approval about who your are.

Books and Reading
This topic was reserved to last – because it applies to ALL of the personal improvement issues tackled in the preceding analysis. The value of READING self improvement materials regarding your specific problem cannot be under stated.

Just be sure that you read actual books – at least at first. MP3 audio book recordings actually are of major benefit later, but only after you have read the actual paper book at least twice.

Choose several good books that speak to your particular problem and then take them seriously. Publishers don’t publish books that have no value. That costs them money. If it is on the bookshelf, then it has value. Trust your tools and trust yourself and you will get results.

That’s your toolkit – and it will WORK! Follow these suggestions and you’ll be well on your way to the chess mastery that you’d expect of yourself.

The changes may come so naturally – so quickly – that it may all seem like magic – but it is not. You are simply applying thoroughly tested scientific principles that already have made our largest corporate icons RICH and that are being used as you read this to change countless lives for the better. If other people are overcoming their obstacles and improving their lives – then you too deserve as much. So do the work – and the very best of luck.
